A friend e-mailed me yesterday to say he had bought a copy of Afam Akeh’s Letter Home & Biafran Nights off Amazon.com. He said I’d pulled off a major coup by being the one to publish Akeh’s follow-up to Stolen Moments. “Your place in the development of African literature is guaranteed” he said.
I am very proud of this achievement by SPM Publications. It was by no means easy, as many of our friends might have noted, but we got there in the end.
At SPM Publications, we have so far published of course my own work The Bridge Selection, and beautiful collections Marking Time by Roger Elkin and All the Invisibles by Mandy Pannett. We also published The Candles, a play by Uche-Chinemere Nwaozuzu. Now we are bracing ourselves for the release of Uche Nduka’s new poetry collection Nine East, and Obemata’s Triptych.
SPM Publications are not just about poetry and drama. We will be bringing out some really exciting short fiction collections this year including European, American and Asian version of Indigo by Molara Wood. First Flame by Bruce Harris, Not a Matter of Choice by Brindley Hallam Dennis and The Magenta Shadow, my own short story collection.
Let’s make it an exciting 2013.
